Scottish Carbon Capture & Storage

Towards a zero carbon future

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a set of technologies that can reduce emissions of carbon dioxide at source to prevent it being vented to the atmosphere and escalating climate change. It is the only option for deep emissions reductions for many energy-intensive and process industries. When used with sustainable biomass, it can provide “negative emissions”. It also has a role in producing clean hydrogen.

SCCS is the largest CCS research group in the UK. We are able to provide a single point of coordination for all aspects of CCS research ranging from capture engineering and geoscience, to social perceptions and environmental impact, through to law and petroleum economics.
