Young energy pioneers across Scotland are being encouraged to enter a new competition, which aims to celebrate their achievements and provide support at the start of their education or careers.
The inaugural awards, developed by Heriot-Watt University and Scottish Energy News, were launched recently at the university's first Energy Showcase event, where more than 120 energy industry experts gathered to hear about innovative research under way in the energy sector.
Although the awards are co-organised by Heriot Watt University, students from all Scottish universities can apply. The deadline for entries is 31 January 2015. Applications are being sought from researchers who work in a variety of fields, including energy and the environment; energy in the marine environment; energy materials and storage; energy and fossil fuels; energy infrastructure and society; and energy entrepreneurship.
The successful researchers will be presented with their awards on 14 May 2015 by Scottish Energy Minister, Fergus Ewing, at a special event to be held at the UK head office of the Green Investment Bank in Edinburgh.
