UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Amber Rudd MP, faced MPs today as part of the Energy and Climate Change Committee's hearing on outcomes from the Paris climate talks. Watch the hearing again on Parliament TV.
Ms Rudd responded to a number of questions relating to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), including its role in supporting the UK's low-carbon ambitions and the impact of the Government's withdrawal of funding for the £1 billion CCS Competition on these stated goals, as well as on investor confidence.
Prior to the hearing, Angus MacNeil, Chair of the ECC Committee, wrote to Ms Rudd requesting specific answers on the UK Government's decision to close down the CCS Competition as part of its autumn Spending Review. Read the letter.
