Within the Enhanced Oil Recovery and CO solutions laboratory there are 5 HPHT core flooding rigs and a suite of chemical analytical facilities. These include two dynamic tube blocking rigs, two ICP-OES spectrometers, one Dionex HPLC, one Karl Fischer Titrator, 5 ovens, 4 fume hoods and access to IPE's Scanning Electron Microscopy.

  • Flow experiments with operating pressures of up to 10,000 psia and temperatures up to 150 °C can be accommodated in the laboratory

    Investigation into process of CO injection in depleted oil reservoir to maximise both CO storage and additional oil recovery potential

  • Leakage Prevention Method Joint industry Project
    Develop innovative & unique CO leak prevention technique to automatically detect & seal CO leaks from both known and unknown leakage paths in geological reservoirs

  • Enhanced Non-Thermal Heavy Oil Recovery JIP
    Flow visualisation experiments using high-pressure micromodel test facility, core/sand pack flow studies using high pressure core flood rig and numerical simulation
