CO₂SafeQuest is a 3-year research project that aims to enhance CO₂ storage integrity risk assessment of sites containing faults and to provide solutions to reduce the risk of fault reactivation and leakage during CO₂ storage operations, thus ensuring long term CO₂ containment and security of storage.
CO₂SafeQuest will provide innovative and integrative workflows addressing the long-term containment of CO₂ in faulted sandstone storage sites taking into account fault behaviour in the reservoir, caprock and overburden.
SCCS leads WP5 Reporting and knowledge community, and will establish a standard guidance for CCS risk communication and conduct communication and dissemination activities for the project.
Coordinated by IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN), our research partnership combines the expertise and experience of 11 partners from 5 CETP member countries in CCS.
The CO₂SafeQuest project is funded under the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership) Joint Call 2023. CETPartnership is co-funded by the European Union, with contributions from government agencies of each participating country: France, Norway, Switzerland, Scotland, USA.
