The SCCS PhD Consortium is a knowledge-sharing event bringing academia and industry together, for feedback, discussion and to identify opportunities for research collaboration. This free-to-attend event showcased current, cutting-edge research on CCS and related topics from across the SCCS partnership, and presented ideas for new, potential research projects. If you have any queries about the PhD Consortium, please contact us at info@sccs.org.uk
What did industry attendees get from this event?
Industry attendees heard about cutting-edge CCS research from each of the five SCCS academic partner institutions, and had the opportunity for face-to-face discussion on areas and topics that are of interest. They also heard from industry keynote speakers, who shared their experience of the value of working with academia on both research and real-life projects.
The research presented covered topics from among the following (non-exhaustive):
CO2 capture
CO2 transport
CO2 storage
CO2 utilisation
CO2 mineralisation
CCS policy, finance and economics
Low-carbon hydrogen (with CCS)
Decarbonising industry (with CCS)
Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR)
Lifecycle Analysis (LCA)
Emissions offsetting / trading
Geothermal
Biochar
Negative emissions
Direct air capture (DAC
